Usher Volunteering

If you would like to assist your community during the High Holidays this year, please consider volunteering for a shift as an usher. It is an excellent opportunity to greet your fellow members while checking them in for services.

Babysitting
Ages Newborn through Pre-K | 9:30am through end of each service
Rosh Hashanah Days 1 & 2 | Yom Kippur Day - $20 per child per day
Kol Nidre - $10 per child per day

*Family Services for Preschoolers*
Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur | 11:30am - 12:00pm
With Hannah Zale on the GLT Pavilion.
This service is for parents and preschool age children. All family members invited.

*Elementary School Services and Programs*
Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur |9:30am through end of each service
With Rebecca Gordon in the downstairs great room.
This service and program is open to all elementary age students, no adults.

*Middle School and High School Services*
Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur | 9:30am - 10:30am
With Hannah Zale on the GLT Pavilion

*No reservations required - Please join us for all or part of these programs 

 Yom Kippur Lunch is available to any child not fasting on Yom Kippur.
Lunch will be served at 12:00 in the downstairs great room.

High Holiday Tickets

We will be using physical tickets this year. GLT members will be receiving their tickets through the mail in the coming days. Please note that you must be a member in good standing in order to attend to High Holiday services at GLT. If you have a question about your account, please call the synagogue office at 770-777-4009. Seats for visiting family members can be arranged through reciprocity (if they are members in good standing of another synagogue) or through a purchase of a seat at a discounted rate ($90).

Additionally, we would like to request that every family send an email to adm@gltorah.org naming the services you plan on attending and the number of people coming in your group.

Ushers will be posted at each entrance to check in guests as they arrive. Please remember that safety and security is the primary concern of our ushers. We thank you in advance for your patience.

GLT Parking Lot Parking Passes

If you are a senior, a new member of GLT since the 2022 High Holidays, or if you have a handicapped parking pass, your GLT parking lot parking pass will be sent to you. If you do not receive a GLT parking lot parking pass, please contact GLT's Executive Director, Doug Konkel at 770-777-4009. The police officers providing security are instructed to check for your parking pass before allowing you to enter our parking lot except to drop people off.

Erev Rosh Hashanah, Friday night, September 15th

Parking available at: GLT parking lot, dentist office parking lot next door, and Ocee Elementary parking lot across the street (not Ocee Park).
**Ocee Elementary has 2 entrances (Old Milton Parkway and Kimball Bridge)
There is NO shuttle from Ocee Park on Erev Rosh Hashanah.

Rosh Hashanah 1st Day, Saturday, September 16th

Parking at GLT is by parking pass only. Additional parking is available at Ocee Elementary School parking lot across Kimball bridge Road (not Ocee Park) and the dentist office across the adjoining service road.
**Ocee Elementary has 2 entrances (Old Milton Parkway and Kimball Bridge).
There is NO shuttle from Ocee Park on Rosh Hashanah this year.

Rosh Hashanah 2nd Day, Sunday, September 17th

******Parking at GLT is first come/first serve. No parking pass necessary. Additional parking is available at Ocee Elementary School parking lot across Kimball bridge Road (not Ocee Park) and the dentist office across the adjoining service road.
**Ocee Elementary has 2 entrances (Old Milton Parkway and Kimball Bridge).
There is NO shuttle from Ocee Park on Rosh Hashanah this year.

Kol Nidre - Sunday night, September 24th

Parking is available at the GLT parking lot, dentist office parking lot next door, and Ocee Elementary parking lot across the street (not Ocee Park)
**(Ocee Elementary has 2 entrances (Old Milton Parkway and Kimball Bridge)
There is NO shuttle from Ocee Park on Kol Nidre.

Yom Kippur morning, Monday, September 25th

Parking at GLT is by parking pass only. All others must use the Ocee Park shuttle.
The shuttle will run back and forth from 8:30am until the last person leaves services in the afternoon.
We thank you for your patience as the shuttle runs back and forth.
There is NO parking at the Dentist office next door or Ocee Elementary across the street.

Yom Kippur Mincha/Neilah/Break Fast - Monday afternoon, September 25th

**Ocee Elementary has 2 entrances (Old Milton Parkway and Kimball Bridge)
There is NO shuttle from Ocee Park for Yom Kippur Mincha/Neilah

Directions to Ocee Park: From GLT right on Kimball Bridge Road for approximately 0.5 mi. Turn left at Buice Road. Continue on Buice Road for approximately 0.1 mi. Turn right into the Ocee Park parking lot. Make an immediate right into the upper part of the parking lot (back toward Kimball Bridge Road) and look for the GLT shuttle parking signs.

High Holiday Honors

If you have been given an Honor, you will be notified in advance. Please help us by doing your best to be on time for your Honor, and please move to the front of the Kramer Sanctuary before we reach the point during the service for your Honor. 

Book of Remembrance

GLT has established a tradition of putting together a Book of Remembrance for the High Holidays. This booklet is a fitting and traditional way of memorializing family members whose names are recalled at the Yizkor service on Yom Kippur. Anyone who wishes to have the names of their departed loved ones entered into this year's Book of Remembrance should contact David Chase at chase4@bellsouth.net before September 13, 2023. The Book of Remembrance will be distributed at the beginning of the Yizkor service on Yom Kippur. As we have done each year, we ask that a contribution of $18 (Chai) for each loved one remembered in the Book of Remembrance be made to GLT. This contribution should be sent directly to GLT to the attention of the GLT Bookkeeper.

Not only does your Yom Kippur Appeal donation help us to maintain our day-to-day operations, it also enables us to expand our offerings and our reach into the community. More information on how you can make a Yom Kippur Appeal pledge before, during or after the High Holidays will be coming your way soon.

COVID 

Masks are optional for attendees of our High Holiday services. If anyone in your group is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or has had a significant exposure, please stay home and participate via our streaming service.

Kavod - Honor and Respect

The High Holidays are a special time for all of us. Honoring and respecting the meaning of our High Holidays can help make the services a pleasant and spiritually fulfilling experience for everyone. Please be mindful of the enclosed information while in and around the building during the High Holidays to help maintain the sanctity of our services. Please follow the instructions of our volunteer greeters, and pay close attention to all signage around the building. Please enter and leave the Kramer Sanctuary and social hall as quietly as possible, and please keep conversation during services to a minimum. Please refrain from using electronic devices in the building or on the premises. If you must have them on for emergency purposes, please silence your device before entering the building. We have a smoke-free environment. Please refrain from smoking in the synagogue or on the premises. Men and boys are respectfully asked to please wear kippot - head coverings. Women and girls are welcome to wear kippot or head coverings. Women and girls who are called to the bima are asked to please wear a head covering or kippot while on the bima. Men and boys who have become a Bar Mitzvah and who are called to the bima are asked to wear a tallit - prayer shawl. Women and girls who have become a Bat Mitzvah and who are called to the bima are welcome to wear a tallit - prayer shawl. Our supply is limited, so please bring your own tallit - prayer shawl if you have one. We kindly ask that both adults and children dress in a dignified and respectful manner. We encourage you to take advantage of our babysitting, youth and family programs downstairs. Please exercise responsibility for and control of the behavior of your children at all times. While children are in the Kramer Sanctuary or social hall please consider respectful activities (such as books) if your children need to be occupied. Please refrain from  writing or coloring. Food/snacks for children are best enjoyed downstairs.
